The Origin of Ming
Most people who come to Ming presume that our name is the name of our founder. That’s not the case – in Winnipeg, our founder is Randy Otto, who is still our president. Randy opened the franchise in 1978.
MING is actually an acronym given to our signature process – Masters In Natural Glazing. This process was invented in 1935 by a Kansas engineer who sought to create a paint polishing method that would beautify cars and provide protection for years to come.
While we offer other services – rust protection and undercoating, interior and exterior detailing, and upholstery protection, to name a few, the core of our business is the Ming Mirror Finish paint protection process.
Ming can bring up faded or tired paint, restoring the factory-new lustre and shine, and seals the paint work, locking in the brilliance of the colour and preserving it as new. Once you’ve had the process done to your car, you’ll never need to wax or polish it again. Dirt and dust will simply rinse off with a sponge and water.
The Ming process is guaranteed, in writing, for a full five years. No touch-ups or reapplications will be necessary, and your vehicle’s paint will be rendered resistant to UV rays, salt, bird drippings, tree sap, and other road hazards. If you have us perform the Ming Mirror Finish process today, you’ll receive a complimentary interior cleaning as well as detailing of wheels, tires, chrome, door jambs and windows.
