Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the questions our customers are asking. If you do not see the information you are looking for, please contact us at Ming and a representative will be in touch to answer any questions you may have.

On Our Service:
Q: Are you open on the weekends?
A: Our St. James location is open on selected Saturdays from 8am - 1pm. We are closed Sundays and holidays. [See our Saturday schedule]

Q: Can I get a ride to work?
A: We have shuttle service to get you to work, home or wherever you need to go in the mornings at 8:15am and 9:15am. Logistically however, it is difficult for us to pick you up so we ask that you get someone to bring you back to pick your vehicle up.

Q: How long do I need to leave my vehicle?
A: In most cases, our services are performed the same day. If you drop off your vehicle between 8:00 - 9:00am, it will likely be ready between 3:00 - 5:00pm. Some exceptions involve climate and weather issue repairs. In the winter, we recommend leaving interior shampoo vehicles overnight to dry, and during rainy days, undercoated vehicles should be left overnight so the puddles don't wash away the fresh sealant.

On Ming Mirror Finish:
Q: How is the Ming "Mirror Finish" different from a wax or polish coating?
A: Actually, Ming is neither a wax or a polish. In fact, Ming is more a process than a product. The Ming process enhances the natural paint finish by filling the pits and valleys (sometimes called "pores") in every painted surface where dirt, grime and pollutants can collect.

Once the process is complete, no chemical residue or coating is left on the paint.
See before and after images below.

In a conventional treatment, waxes or polishes are rubbed or buffed into these pores to cover the paint. The shine comes from the ingredients of the wax or polish. With Ming, the shine you see is the reflection of the natural paint surface, not a wax or polish.

Q: Yes, but doesn't my car's paint need some kind of covering to protect it?
A: No, not if the paint has been treated and strengthened. The Ming process bonds the paint making it much more resistant than otherwise. The paint is then protected from the damaging effects of dirt, grime, sunlight or pollutants. The only upkeep uncessary is a gentle, regular washing with liquid car wash soap. You don't need to wax or polish your vehicle again!

Q: What is the "Ming Guarantee"?
A: The Ming Guarantee promises you satisfaction with your Ming "Mirror Finish" for five years after the Ming process is performed. There are no yearly maintenance visits, no hidden yearly charges and no required re-application. Your vehicle will retain the same "Mirror Finish" gloss enhanced by your regular washing and care. The guarantee is only subject to the condition of the paint prior to the Ming processing and does not apply to areas damaged by abrasion, collision or repainting that may occur after processing.
If you are not satisfied with the appearance of your vehicle, simply return your vehicle to any authorized Ming Centre with your invoice and signed guarantee. Our certified technicians will process it again under the terms of warranty.

Q: Can I Ming my clearcoat?
A: Yes. The "clearcoat" is an upper layer of paint finish that has no pigmentation. It still has the same pits and valleys (pores) as any other applied paint. These pores can collect dirt and become clouded when they fill with material. The Ming process cleans, enhances, and protects that clearcoat finish, giving it an increased luster and longer lasting shine.

On Rustproofing and Undercoating:
Q: What is the difference between Rustproofing and Undercoating?
A: Rustproofing is the process of spraying a fine sealant into the seams, welds and joints of the body to prevent rusting from the inside out. Undercoating involves spraying the exposed area on the underneath with a heavy sealant to prevent rust on the undercarriage and act as a sound deadener.

Q: How long is your rust warranty?
A: On new vehicles, we guarantee against rust for as long as you own your vehicle and is transferrable to the next owner. Used vehicles are warranted for up to 10 years depending on age, mileage, and general condition.

Q: Do I need to bring the vehicle back to you on a regular basis?
A: To keep up your Rustproofing Warranty, we suggest a check-up and re-spray touch up every two years. There is no charge for this service.

On Shampooing and Detailing:
Q: Can you remove cigarette smells from my car interior?
A: Yes. In 99% of the cases, we are successful in completely and permanently removing the smell of cigarette smoke, along with most other odours such as mould, vomit, excrement and smells from spills.

Q: Do you use steam to clean upholstery?
A: No. We use hot water and cleaners with the aid of shampooing extractors, scrubbing, towel drying and lots of elbow grease.

On Window Tinting:
Q: What is your warranty on Window Tinting?
A: We guarantee against film peeling, bubbling or discoloration for as long as you own your vehicle.

Q: Are there any regulations on Window Tinting allowances in Manitoba?
A: Yes, there are legal restrictions on window tinting in Manitoba. Window tinting regulations in Manitoba can be found in the Highway Traffic Act of the C.C.S.M. (Continuing Consolidation of the Statutes of Manitoba). Below is a summary of what the legal allowances are:
